Bethel Regional Airport (0B1, sectional) in Bethel, ME, is the site of our first property, a Sunday River ski house.  The airport is a 16-minute free shuttle ride from Sunday River ski resort.  It has a nice long runway, good snow removal, engine heater outlets and self serve fuel, but it does not currently have an instrument approach.

All the rest of the airports on this page are ones that we think are attractive, but at which we do not own property (yet).

Bar Harbor Airport (KBHB) is close to Acadia National Park, shopping, and restaurants.  Hertz is right on the field.

Sugarloaf Regional Airport (B21) in Carrabassett, ME, is surrounded by high terrain and has no instrument approach, but is adjacent to a nice looking whitewater stream.  Perhaps a nicer, more remote location than Sunday River, but its aviation potential is more limited and it requires a significant drive to Sugarloaf.

New Hampshire

The Flying H Skyport (NH25), in Melvin Village, NH is a private, overgrown 1500' paved runway on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee.  It was on the market until 2006, not selling for $499k before being taken off the market.

Laconia Municipal Airport (KLCI) and Moultonboro (5M3) also provide good access to Lake Winnipesaukee.

Mount Washington Regional Airport (KHIE) and Twin Mountain (8B2) provide access to Mount Washington, including the Cog Railway.

Hampton Airfield (7B3) is a very active grass strip that is for sale for $2.5M.

Vermont
Morrisville-Stowe State Airport (KMVL) is a short drive from Stowe ski resort.  It's not especially close to the resort, but Stowe is known as one of the top areas in the east, and the northern Vermont location means the snow is great and it's harder for daytrippers to get to.

Mount Snow Airport (4V8) is in a good location adjacent to the now defunct Haystack ski resort and not far from Mount Snow itself.  Disadvantages are strong winds and a runway that needs some work.  Mount Snow is in far south Vermont, so the snow doesn't measure up to northern areas, and it's readily accessible by car, so it can get crowded.  There is a golf course adjacent to the airport, and the surroundings are said to be nice.

Basin Harbor (B06) in Vergennes, VT, is a summer-only turf field adjacent to a golf course, restaurant, and Lake Champlain.  It's the site of the yearly Aero Club of New England fly-in.

Massachusetts

Katama Airpark (1B2) is a well maintained grass field on Martha's Vineyard where you can taxi to the beach.

Martha's Vineyard Airport (KMVY) would also be an option, and it has approaches, which are essential for getting into this often foggy island.

Plum Island (2B2) is a short bike ride to the beach and near Newburyport.

New York

Saratoga County Airport (5B2) is 4-5 mi from Saratoga Springs, home of natural spas, horse racing, harness racing, dining, shopping, SPAC, and lots more.  Too bad it's not closer to town.  The two excellent FBOs and easy taxi service might make property near the airport unnecessary.
